Thanks Cosy. Your posts are always balanced, and sensible, and pertinent. Thanks!! Meanwhile back on GW2 Forum ... I read both of Chris' announcements.

So Anet ... "will be taking a very active stance against RMT buyers from here on out." .... and ... " In the coming weeks and months we will be introducing more systems to help users protect themselves and help protect them automatically." ..... and ... "That relationship [between Gold Sellers and Gold Buyers] has become a somewhat reliable one and players who purchase from RMT are likely to continue that trend. By increasing our enforcement of this, we intend to break that relationship now and forever. Buying from RMT will no longer be anywhere near as safe as it was before, it’s time for gold buyers to say goodbye to their RMT friends."

So more algorithm actions, sounds like ... to protect us .... yra

I never once had a doubt in my mind that a lot of these bans (then and now) were false-positive as a result of overzealous algorithms.

People are quick to shoot that way of thinking down and relegate it to conspiracy theories but the hard truth is that there aren't enough people to police the game, so they have to do something to combat bots.

It was either here years ago or another forum where these people bought some junk accounts and just farmed over and over in a repetitive pattern (all human no automation) and ended up getting bans on them, just to confirm their fears.

Just a week or so ago I went and did a few of my classic Gates of Kryta undead farm runs. It is an easy run especially when you've been off the game forever and a little rusty, it's hard for the low level enemies to make a dent in you. Made nearly a plat per run. sometimes I'll do it to see if i can get any dyes. A lot of the junk can be sold for a decent price and it's also a great easy run to do when they have events where enemies will drop alcohol or cupcakes or whatever. It's such an easy repetitive run and good for people who don't mind only making such a small amount like 800g to a plat per run.

I'm surprised I haven't even run into any trouble with the regi... i mean ArenaNet. What with playing and enjoying the game well within it's limits is a crime.

Doing half day continuous farming to kill vaetir in HM for golden eggs. No bot of cause, i am playing with pure finger play as usual. so far, no ban but worry that i may get flag and get ban. Farm in fear....

Hope time heals.

He's already made gold vanish from peoples acc's that bought from gold sellers. He's stated it on his twitter. idc what he does in gw2 really cause i'd rather him fix the rest of his mess here in gw.

I've been looking around & the amount of botters is quite extensive. they don't seem to care guess that's what a business attitude is like lol.

1. what about the people who are innocently banned?
2. what about the bad bugs/flaws pve has??
3. bots in pvp??? (i hope he'd get the question with just 3 words.... kind of)
4. what about the safety of those who are farming WITHOUT bots????
5. what about those who would for example give ecto's and/or armbraces to someone else without even KNOWING how of where to goldsell/goldbuy?????
6. can you make automated banning programs so that people who coincidentally walk like bots (mouse leftclick walking) will NOT be banned??????

question from me toward anyone here: the heck is RMT?

i never wanted to let anyone else do stuff for me (unless i simply cant do it, and only in team as help, not bots or whatever) and buying gold is kinda like bots.... they do the work for you, so you'll quit GW in no time, while the game is so big if you know how to make goals
as someone who bought all char slots and merc hero slots i can, and several costumes, i can say GW still has alot to offer if you make builds with themes on certain chars

GW has many skills, so its easy to try and try.... in pvp they should do that, instead of using pvx or community made builds and only use those
do something teams wont expect (opposite teams that is)

anyway, i wanted to say i mostly play the game by myself, as noone else i know plays the way i do, but i have full teams of heroes (i dont do urgoz/deep and other elite areas)
and i try ALL skills if they are good, so i can see if it works with certain other skills or not

and because of this, i have no idea what bots can, cant or even do
and buying gold? 1. i dont have much money for that. 2. NO, i rather do something in GW like selling stuff i dont need and get money that way than getting ecto's just by buying.... oh and 3. its a huge risk buying from sites you cant sue or trust
try explaining to the judge: i bought money illegally, and the one selling it, scammed me!

anyway, i hope that guy wont screw up what the old anet, which no longer exists, has created and made and achieved, and what we still enjoy almost 10 years after its release (i never quit for longer than 3 weeks...... i know....)

***mod edit---RMT is Real Money Trade(r), or those who sell for real money---mod edit***

Its as simple as this guys geez.

If Anets ban script recognizes numbers in their clients which shouldnt be there or dont allign with their own (i.e numbers changed or put in via botting / pathing in an exact certain way like JQ bots, IDS bots or ToPK bots had) it clearly shows up and so it will pick your client out ready to get banned.

Not too mention they probably also save your trade and chat logs, so when you suddenly get 1000 armbraces without any item being traded, or without anything being said in the chat it becomes suspecious pretty damn quick.

If I understand right, it would be more risky to move ectos or armbraces between two of my accounts than to buy armbraces to a gold seller and to say hello / how many armbaces / where do we meet / thx.

What Anet doesn't understand it's that they can't stop gold seller for the simple reason nowdays they are players like you and me and not chinese men paid for this on a dedicated website, like one we can often see in spamadan (gw2sa....)

No, because using two accounts at the same time usually comes down they are being run on the same machine or even two diffrent machines using the same IP. (Personal use only)

I ment such transactions from two diffrent IP's, as those things go via their server and gets stored there.
(For instance you and the gold seller)

I've actually heard bans stemming from events when GW was more active and there would be giveaways of large questionable items. Like on a forum if someone won something and was given a stack of ectos/ some gold or a ton of black dye something like that. They ended both getting banned and screwed over. Then that kinda put in perspective how automated arenanet became in banning 3rd party RMT.

Shoot first (destroy a loyal customer's account) and ask questions later (more like never, and then shove a EULA in their face).

While our investigation points to the fact that your account was involved in a violation, we are going to extend leniency to you on a one-time basis. We have reinstated your account and you may rejoin the game now.
I was still banned after that email so I emailed them back(feb 23rd). Today I got a nonsense email with bunch of crap giving me an email address of someone and their character name for password reset. I am so lost what the f they are reading when they are resolving my ticket... LOL I even stated my email address linked to my account in the ticket.

GG guildwars crappy a$$ job and I can't even pm any of GMs because I don't have GW2. I was so excited to see my effing panda but meh

yepo got one as well...now if they just apologized for miss banning then I would be happy, but noooooo thats not what they do.
Not to mention using made up names to reply. When I worked in customer service you had to give your REAL name not, gw bimbo.

It's ludicrous there's still enough soap for the opera simply because some of the customer accounts turned unavailable for a short period of 1 month. I know of the actual stories where it took more than 3 months for players to resolve this kind of situations appropriately with ArenaNet, should it mean that for every such, a new thread with another combustible drama must appear?

There's no need to say no one is obliged to provide public excuses also, since such could be considered as a sign of weakness. It's strange that these rather easy-to-comprehend things are still not-so-obvious to some of the posters.

MOST companies that do erroneously 'things' give a public apology if they want to continue to do business.
One month? there are still folks from january waiting for a response--that is ludicrous!
A new thread? no this is the old one that was started back in jaunary when they decided to let the idiot use his bot program to 'catch' people playing the game fairly.

What is ludicrous is that he still has a job!

Like I told you before, I see nothing wrong with applying disciplinary actions to those who were entering the PvP areas by the means of alt accounts, even if it was for the purpose of unveiling certain pieces of the map, as it happened with you and your friends. It's just not the way one should try to overcome such imperfections of the game's design with.

If you want any of those addressed, you should voice it at the feedback section of Guild Wars Wiki, instead of inventing suspicious ways of entering desolated areas in the manner the Support Team would probably qualify as a breach of RoC (see Article 24).

As to the exploiters of the maxed level of Gladiator title, JQ botters and other cheaters gone, all I can say is that they aren't missed, especially those who have done it all in public and encouraged the others to do the same.

except that there used to be full groups of folks who routinely did MAPPING of jade quarry and fort aspenwood....which are high level areas. Not suspicious whatsoever. (I can show you the threads about it from here as well).
Not to mention my main account (which I did the ticket on) was NOT involved and and account that was involved was not originally banned--so they have some strange ways of detecting things (and I know of others who say they DID break the rules and were NOT banned at all--and others who rarely even played that were--so explain that one to Mike when you talk with him next).

Any updates from anyone? Still waiting for a reply from Anet, sent a new ticket again. Call me crazy, but I will not give up until my account and the one from my girlfriend are unbanned. I'm happy for them but it still bothers me to hear from people I know that their accounts are all unbanned. And then 2 accounts, not involved with any pvp bot or whatsoever still banned.

A guildie sent a ticket few days ago, then received a response 1 day later telling him that even if had made an infraction they still unban his acc. Now, that guy who botted polar bear and more with lots of acc is unbanned...
For my part, I received a response from a ticket I sent 1 month ago telling me the same bullshit as usual.

So why are all the worst of the botters being unbanned. But the innocent people aren't? Someone with r12 codex who was banned in the first wave or 2 was unbanned the other day and sitting in kammadon.
